Why do people invest in gold stocks? Investing in gold has become commonplace because of the present financial situation. Because of the current state of the economy as well as the bleak condition of the markets, people are turning to less risky and more stable investments. Instead of putting their money in real estate and stocks, investors are now choosing to add gold-related investments to their portfolios.
Unlike paper currency and bonds, the world’s most valued precious metal retains its value despite wars, natural disasters and crises—may it be political or economical. The stability of the gold’s value was proven during the Great Depression: in a time when the world experienced the worst economic slowdown, only the gold stock market experienced gains. Investing in gold is appealing because the precious metal itself is inflation and deflation proof. In fact, the current debt crisis can even force the prices of gold to soar. Hence, anyone who can afford to buy gold should do so and be able to gain profit, but not before following tips for buying gold.
People who are interested to invest in gold should know that there are many ways to do it. Buying gold stock and choosing gold ETFs or exchange traded funds are two of the many ways to invest in gold.
Gold stock and gold ETFs are similar in the sense that both enable investors to invest in gold without actually owning physical gold. When people purchase gold stock, what they buy are shares in gold mining companies. Hence, the revenue that an investor can get from gold shares is based on the revenue of the mining company. If the company’s profits increase, the gold stock can be worth more. Investing in gold stock is better than investing in actual gold because the former’s value is not based on the latter’s value: the worth of gold may decrease, but the worth of the stock can be unchanged.
As for gold ETFs, they are unlike gold stock in the sense that their value is not based on the performance of the mining company. Also unlike gold stock, an exchange traded fund may or may not be based on the value of gold at a particular time. When one has a gold ETF, he or she simply owns a bond share or stock of a fund that was established to outline the progress of different gold markets.

Wax crayon suppliers all over the world have developed in interesting ways. When one looks at the location of chalk, crayon and modeling clay companies, the fact that art supply businesses have, gradually, become dominant in Asian countries like China or Hong Kong is obvious. The reasons why reflect an outsourcing trend in other industries.
China and Hong Kong seem to be a hot spot for supply companies for a lot of industries, and it is here that almost all supply companies are found. But, keep in mind that this has become a relatively new phenomenon to the United States, where the supplier industry for crayons was dominant in the States. E. Steiger and Co, among many others, was a manufacturing company founded in the 1800s, located on the East Coast.
The same sort of shift has occurred with chalk suppliers. The thing about chalk that people need to remember is that this is a dying educational tool here in the states, mainly due to the growing popularity of alternative tools like electronic smart boards or white boards. Outsourcing chalk is cheap, which is vital here.
Amazingly, plasticine suppliers do not usually even take the place of an American company, like Crayola does for crayons. If you are interested in buying some sort of modeling clay, your best bet would be to look at popular companies located in Japan, China, Taiwan and even Thailand.
So, why are all of these supply companies outsourcing? Even though outsourcing has been a contested issue for just about every industry out there, art supplies are at a greater risk because of what technology does to them. With graphic design programs and other digital media that is perhaps more engaging, chalk and crayons are hurting.
Maybe it is time to put down the laptop and pick up something from wax crayon suppliers. Remember, there is a different color for everyone.
Some branding campaigns are so strong, they become recognized virtually everywhere in the world. Whether they emphasize television advertising, their website, social media, or event marketing – certain components make them rise above the competition, make a memorable impression, and, if truly “strong” by marketing definition, sell products or services. So what are these components of a strong branding campaign?
It is important to plan and implement a branding campaign carefully (but not timidly). Effective branding is more important than ever in today’s fiercely competitive and cluttered marketplace. It’s true whether you sell pharmaceuticals or pizza, medical devices or toys, hospital services or auto repair services…whether your concern is medical marketing and specialized healthcare advertising or packaged goods and mass market advertising. Most market segments have experienced leaders as well as any number of newcomers…and sometimes assorted price-slashers and “ankle-biters” (like fleas). Even the best products and services can get lost in the clutter. Most get the attention they need and deserve because they have “the goods”:
Good product
Most good brands aren’t good just because of their marketing and advertising. First and foremost, they are good products.
Good planning
Branding is too important and too costly to undergo casually or haphazardly. It is essential to have a clear plan, including clear budget parameters.
Good partners
With very few exceptions, marketing is a collaborative effort. Whether your collaborators are your manufacturers or your distributors or your advertising agency, or all of these and more, success in today’s business world demands well-managed partnerships.
Good luck
Let’s face it: marketing is a subjective exercise. There is no absolute right or wrong answer. It requires leaps of faith…judgment calls…and taking risks. Hard work pays off. But good luck helps too.
Good branding
Here’s the final piece of the puzzle. If your product or service is good and your partners are good, but your branding is weak, you’re in trouble. Hope your good luck saves you, because bad branding can sink even a good product.
The “big 3″ of good branding
These are the three fundamental components of strong branding:
1. Strong strategic direction
When certain critical information is clear, marketing initiatives are poised for success:
Targeting: Who is the intended audience for your communications? What are their demographics: their age, gender, location, income level, education level, and other distinguishing characteristics? What are their psychographics: their needs, desires, problems, and overall mindset?
Positioning: What is your brand’s “unique selling proposition”? What makes it different from, and better than, the competitors? What is the key benefit it delivers to your target audience? The brand positioning answers these questions clearly, concisely, and compellingly.
Messaging: What are the attributes of your brand that enable it to fulfill the promise of the positioning? What are its features and benefits?
2. Strong tactical direction
Branding depends on communicating-establishing a relationship with your customers. Ultimately, a brand is not a product or a service; it is a promise. Expressing the promise to the right people at the right time means creating the right communication tactics in the right media. A good tactical plan capitalizes effectively on every appropriate point of contact with your target audiences.
3. Strong creative direction
Here’s where a strong branding campaign really shines. A truly creative campaign is on-strategy, on-message, and aesthetically appealing. At its foundation is a concept, an idea that attracts and holds the attention of the target audience then motivates them to take action. What makes creative direction strong? Superb execution in design, copywriting, and execution, whether it’s programming of a website, production of a broadcast spot, or preparation of a print promotion.
With a strong strategic direction, tactical direction, and creative direction, you have a strong branding campaign. And with a strong branding campaign, you have a strong chance of success in your marketing. Make your branding as strong as possible. I got my first pair of eyeglasses when I was nine years of age. I remember how shocked I was to see everything in a clear and focussed way for the first time. The trees had leaves and there was an outline to everything that was quite shocking.
The funny thing is that I didn’t really know how much I really needed those glasses until I got them!
That’s how it is in business. Sometimes we work and work without having the knowledge that our vision is blurred and things are out of focus. We keep putting one foot infront of the other, without thinking that there is a better way to do things.
Then, all of a sudden, often without any notice, an idea appears and we realize that this is the exact thing that we have been needing. Everything is clear and the blur is gone.
There are several things you can do to improve your business vision:
1. Prepare a Business Plan – Writing things down usually allows you to see things that need to be done in a clear manner
2. Consult with a peer – When we discuss things with others, we sometimes are surprised at how “wise” the other person can be. Usually it is because they have had to figure things out before you did but might actually be behind you in other areas.
3. Take a course or attend a Conference – We need to seek knowledge and will be rewarded by doing so.
4. Trust yourself – Block off a day without any interruptions to go off somewhere on your own with a pad of paper and a pen. Write down all the challenges you are facing and then allow your brain to come up with some options. Do not discriminate. Everything is to be embraced as the idea may either resolve the issues or become part of the solution.
Many people tend to pretend things are fine and do not acknowledge that they have blurred vision. They try to hide the weaknesses and then wonder why things do not improve on their own. If you are doing this, I encourage you to remember the words to a beautiful old song entitled “On a Clear Day You Can See Forever”.
Well you may not want or need to see forever, but if you do not have some vision for the future of your business, chances are that there won’t be one.

Before you decide you want to be the face of your business, you must consider the impact this may have on your brand and your self. Perhaps connecting your face to your brand is part of a strategic promotional campaign you want to launch, perhaps you just feel as if no one can do it like you can. What ever your reasons, be aware that linking you and your business inextricably binds the two of you. If you are unable to continue being the face, then this could affect sales. If you do something in your personal life to jeopardise your name, this could affect sales. Likewise if your business attracts negative attention gets involved in shaky business practice, it is your name that will be dragged through the mud. So think twice before you make the decision to become the face of your business.
If you have decided to make the leap and become the face of your business, here are some tips on how to achieve it.
- Your Story
Perhaps the way you started your business in an inspiring story. Did you overcome personal odds to achieve your dream? Did you have to fight somehow for what you have built? Did you start from a simple situation? If you have a story to share, then share it. People love to connect with business owners that overcome the odds to succeed.
Your story will lend your brand a warmth and meaning that can be attained in no other way. IF people connect with you, they will connect with your business.
- Character
If you are not entirely comfortable putting your own face or persona on your brand, or perhaps you don’t feel you have the right amount of pizazz, then why not create a fictional one? Developing a caricature of someone real has proved to be an effective method for many others.
Get a designer to create a friendly or funny image that you can use. Imbibe this character with exaggerated features of your own personality. Develop a catch phrase or lingo and attach it to your brand.
Putting a character face on your brand will differentiate your business from any other. A humourous or friendly image will put your customers at ease and make your business approachable. This technique is an effective way to reach out and connect with your market.
- Approachable
Sometimes putting a face to a name makes the difference to how you connect with your target market. For example if you are an accountant or real estate agent, putting your name and face to your business is a great way to differentiate your company from any other. It helps people to place your business in their minds in a comfortable way. They will remember your face, above a name or words.
People will feel more comfortable and perhaps more inclined to call you for business if they feel they know you. Using your own face on your brand works almost like a personal reference, it makes your face familiar, and this can suggest trustworthiness and friendliness. These two things are very valuable assets for local and national businesses.
Becoming the face of your business is one of the many marketing methods you can employ to get attention in the market place. Along with this tactic, you can also follow up by handing out free promotional gifts, carrying out a direct marketing campaign and developing a loyalty system for existing customers. Together these methods will provide your business with exposure and begin the journey of brand awareness in your target market.

Many non-profit organizations help raise funds for good causes, through direct marketing, organizing events, and with the help of many other creative ideas. Internet has now come up with great ways and means and has been one of the most successful ways because of its extensive reach. Many non profit organizations are able to raise money with the help of programs that involve online shopping.
However, it is important to choose the right kind of company that would help you raise funds. One must be sure to choose the company that offers quality products instead of cheap junk items. Not compromising on quality will help bring back your customers. The profits and margins are other important factors. Some companies offer about 20% margins and others offer as much as 50%. The fundraisers must go for the best margin for great proceeds, without compromising on the quality of the products.
Some companies also offer pre-sorted items that are done by participants. This is helpful for large organizations, where the items can be bought in bulk and sorted by the people in the organizations, thus saving the cost of the sorted items. This way the distribution becomes quick and easy. Free or minimal shipping and no demands on upfront payments are some of the motivators to the customers. These expenses also cut down the profits of the fundraisers. Brochures and supplies are offered by many companies at no extra charge.
One must also be careful about handing over total control to the fundraising companies. While shopping for the right company, it is better to have a clear picture and idea about the campaigns that they propose to organize. One must ask oneself various questions like: whether the campaign is suitable for your organization, whether the products are efficient for generating enough money, are the target people reachable, are the products right for the potential donors, etc.

Many people have an unfinished book in the drawer or projects that have been left undone for several years. Perhaps the reason that they are in this state is that the person who started them just had too many things on the go at the same time.
Each of us has only 24 hours. It is amazing, however, to realize that some people seem to be able to achieve many accomplishments while others state that they are in a constant state of chaos.
Have you ever gone into the office of a lawyer or psychologist who, despite having beautiful filing cabinets, is surrounded by piles and piles of client files. They just never seem to get to a point where things are put away and the desk is cleared. Some of these individuals almost seem to be proud and I have wondered if they have convinced themselves that operating like this is efficient.
I don’t get it. You see I get satisfaction out of completing things even if the process is difficult. There are times, for example, when I might have a report to write and end up staying at the office late in order to finish it. Despite the fatigue, there is a wonderful feeling of completion that I enjoy for having done the project. And it seems to go faster because the information needed for the report is fresh in my mind.
When I was editing my most recent book recently, I made a strong statement to my son one day “I hate that book”. After I had made the declaration we both laughed. My son said “Then you must be done”. You see often when we are very tired of doing something it is a sign that the project is in fact done. Nothing will ever be perfect and those who edit and edit and edit never do have a published book.
This is the case for many things. You are better to take one project, give it your very best and then move on.
Often the things that are bugging me are running around and around in my head. I decide to attack them by beginning with a list. Even though it felt like I had a thousand things to do, on paper there are usually only six or seven.
When I choose the one that has a firm deadline or is most important and push my life away to deal with it, I am amazed at how quickly it is done. Then I move to the next item.
The other day a client indicated that she had important papers all over the house and couldn’t find things that she needs. I recommended that she go through the house, gather them all up and put them in the bathroom. Then I suggested that she commit to dealing with five sheets of paper every time she takes a bathroom break. She was so excited about this plan and I am confident that she will be free of this project when she arrives for her next appointment.
Pick and project and do something about it. Soon you will benefit from the feelings and results to the point that you adopt this pattern in all areas of your life.

To really appreciate stock footage, it’s a great help to look at the history of how it came into being.
When you consider that motion pictures were invented late 19th century and that the studios were in full swing within 30 years (especially with the advent of sound in 1927), it was only a matter of time before the major studios realized they didn’t have to reshoot a cattle stampede every time they needed one.
Add to this the myriad of other shots that are repeated in various plot lines: airplanes landing and taking off, explosions, car accidents, and even the mundane shots of prisons, hotels, hospitals, etc. With another leap, you realize you don’t really have to take a whole crew to the wilds of the Sahara Desert or the African Bush as long as you have some establishing shots to “show” that you are there.
Dangerous animals became another great subject in stock footage and I’m sure many actors breathed a sigh of relief upon learning that the Gorilla they were fleeing wouldn’t actually be sharing the stage with them. We’ve all seen the footage of the growling bear on the Colbert Report.
So the prescient early studio execs realized early on that they could recycle the scenes that would be used multiple times and created their own libraries from which other studios would be able to license footage for a fee. This trend morphed into a business for entrepreneurs and collectors of vintage footage that was easily accessible in the mid 20th Century because of the huge trove held in government archives such as the National Archive here in the US.
In the late 1970s when video tape became prevalent, the stock footage business accelerated by leaps and bounds. Film could now be viewed on tape instead it’s original plastic-with-sprockets format, and more so, multiple copies could now be made, archived and distributed for new productions.
Today we are at a place in the film business that one could have scarcely imagined in the recent past, with analog video tape giving way to digital formats like DVDs and suddenly, hard drives that can house an entire professional film library in the palm of one’s hand.
When you are searching for health insurance, you will probably be overwhelmed with the array of health insurance plans that are available. There are dozens of different plans that you can choose from, and you can also customize your plan to cover the costs of the procedures that matter to you. The choices can easily be narrowed down by searching for the things that you need. It is important to choose a plan that covers the things you will use. You should also take the time to search a variety of policies to find the best one for your needs and your budget.
So today we can all be filmmakers; and not just because of the prevalence of camcorders and the like, but because what had been a formally exclusive and professional club is now open to anyone with an idea – that’s filmmaking democracy!
